If you can book a signing for Susannah in Atlanta, GA, we (her friends) can come up with ancillary events — local book clubs, teas, animal shelters, etc.
When you’re finally home again for a stretch, I would love to set up a signing for you at the Las Colinas or Lewisville B&N. Please let me know if you want to do it and when!
Any plans for a book signing/tour in or around the Jacksonville/Orange Park Florida area in the future?
Not at this point — however, we are certainly open to possibilities, particularly if dog rescue groups or other canine organizations are interested in having us out. (We are scheduled for some “special” events already in various states.)
Hi Sophie!
We’d love to do it. Contact me at susannah@scentofthemissing.com, and we’ll see what we can set up.
Any plans to do a book signing in Washington DC/Northern VA area?
Hi Pat — We were in Virginia / DC area in April and have no immediate plans to return. However, I believe we will be going to a book festival in Virginia in November. Details TBA. I’ll post more when I have final dates/times/locations. And thank you so much.
I loved your book and fell in love with Puzzle also. Thank you for the fun hours I spent with both of you.
Hi Susannah and Puzzle – I am 1 CD away from finishing the book on audio so I came here to see some pictures (the only thing I don’t like about listening to books on audio is the lack of photos for biographies and nonfiction!). I live in the DC area and I am thrilled to hear you may come to VA in November. PLEASE DO! I would love to meet you and give Puzzle an ear scratch. I am excited to finish the book but already know I will miss sharing my commute home with you and Puzzle. Thanks so much for writing this lovely book!
Hi! I see that you’ll be posting additional events in Texas soon — any chance you’re coming back to the Houston area? Thanks!
Please contact Irving Central Library

Dear Susannah,
Just finished reading your book. I am speachless. I have never read something so honest and intriguing as your book. My dog and i at a late start are traingng to hopefully be “SAR”.
There isnt alot of training where i live, but none the less i go find classes, and work Sir Nicholas daily.
Please come to Philadelphia again, i missed your last date, i would love to sit in and listen and learn. You and your team are amazing people for all you do.
I think their are not enough people out there who are aware.. The commitment involved with the training and the work to get to the point of where you and your team are. All done because of your love for fellow man and wanting to better society and assist in time of need. I commend you all and i have the desire to want to be involved and help when it is needed. Please let me know if you will be returning to this area. Also, if you have any information or advice to help me furthur my training i would be gratefull to know
You Fan and Friend,
Theresa King and Sir Nicholas
Hi Theresa — Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad Scent of the Missing was rewarding for you — and even more happy to hear that you are working with Sir Nicholas toward SAR training. Every opportunity to train matters, from the simplest daily sit/stay commands to the nose work across all kinds of search scenarios.
We do hope to return to Philadelphia again. We were there a little less than 24 hours in April 2010, and I was so intrigued by the city (I’m kind of a history nut). If we do return at some point soon, I’ll certainly post it here. If you are on Facebook, please don’t hesitate to connect with me there, as well. I would love to meet you and Sir Nicholas. All best to you both!
-=Susannah
Your book is so well written and fascinating. I completely relate to your experiences with Puzzle as a puppy as I now live with an extremely smart yellow lab who had to reeducate me on understanding dogs. I was so ignorant! And it’s still an ongoing process. Thanks for all the laughs and tears. Good luck to you and Puzzle-I hope you are both healthy and happy.
Hi Susannah,
I thought I saw somewhere that you (two) were giving a reading at the Avid Reader here in Davis, but now I can’t find it. Was that merely a hopeful dream?
Such a good book, with such an engaging “voice” for Puzzle. I expect you’ve written a classic. So impressive!
Hi Marijane — We are in Dallas for a little while, with a pending visit to Colorado in early June. If you can find the reference to a reading anywhere, let me know. Sometimes there are things pending that are published before they’re finalized … and I’d love to know!
Chris, thank you! An friend of a retriever is a friend of ours.
I’m glad you enjoyed the book — and thankful you took the time to post here and tell me so. Best wishes for fine adventures beside that yellow Lab. Take care and be well!
Susannah,
You are scheduled to appear in Madison, WI but our Borders is closing. Will you reschedule the venue? Please say yes! l read your book and loved it and would love to hear you speak!
Best regards,
Jennifer Das
Hi Jennifer … the date you see posted on the site was for last year. I was at that lovely Borders in Madison (it was a beautiful event with a terrific crowd). I’m so sorry to hear that Borders is closing. They were terrifically kind.
I don’t have any events in the Wisconsin area again any time soon, but that changes in half a heartbeat, it seems, so I’d just say keep an eye on the events page of this site. I’m having some out-of-state requests almost weekly these days, so something could book at any point. I’d love to return to Madison and would love to meet you, too!
Susannah,
Oh I am so disappointed that I read the information incorrectly! I am sorry I discovered your book a year late….I will keep my fingers crossed you will have a chance to come to Madison or somewhere near here soon!
Best regards,
Jennifer Das
